No artist is safe from creative block, and stress is an acquaintance to all. So what can we do?…
DOODLE IT AWAY!
Get it out.
When creative block strikes, it feels impossible to grasp any of the ideas that are swimming in your head.
But if you can convince your hand to grab a pen and paper, you can break out of it much faster.
Most of these doodles were started by simply drawing a frame around the page.
Although the lines are not perfectly straight, they reflect the moment of thought that brought me out of a block.
These first lines are similar to the complex Zen idea of the Enso circle. One or two brushstrokes are used to form the circle and represent nothing and everything at the same time. The circle is not perfect but expresses the moment when the body is freed from the mind and allowed to create.
